About the Role
Innovative Systems is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team onsite in Mitchell, SD. Reporting directly to the Controller and supporting the Finance Manager, this role is critical in ensuring accurate financial operations, timely reporting, and compliance.

What You’ll Do

  • Monthly Close: Complete balance sheet account reconciliations and schedules; resolve aging items promptly.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Perform monthly reconciliations and resolve variances within agreed timelines (e.g., by business day 3).
  • Inventory Accounting: Manage cycle and physical counts, reconcile to the GL, and investigate variances.
  • Order & Billing: Process hardware sales orders and ensure accurate invoicing and billings in Sage Intacct.
  • Sales & Use Tax: Handle filings, remittances, nexus monitoring, and exemption certificates using Avalara (or similar).
  • A/R Support: Serve as backup for AR payments and cash application while maintaining proper controls.
  • Audit & Documentation: Maintain close calendars, narratives, and schedules; support audits and drive process improvements.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 4–6+ years of accounting experience, including monthly close, reconciliations, and sales/use tax. Inventory experience strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Sage Intacct and Excel; Avalara (or similar) experience is a plus.
  • CPA or CPA tracking a plus but not required.
  • Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and ability to meet deadlines.
